About Us

Our Story

Since 1856

Whitstable Cricket Club was formed in 1856. The club played at many grounds within the town before settling at the Belmont permanently in 1946.

In common with most clubs, friendly cricket was the mainstay prior to the inception of league cricket. Whitstable Cricket Club entered the East Kent League as founder members from 1976 until 1995, when the South Thames and the East Kent Leagues merged with the Kent League to form an open structure.

Although the club has had many successes over the years 2012 would be the standout year with all three sides winning promotion – both first and second teams to Kent League Premier divisions and the 3rd team winning promotion in the Kent Regional league. The highlight of that year was the win in the national indoor 6-aside final at Lords in front of many supporters who travelled up from Whitstable.

Present Day

We currently have three senior sides all playing within the Kent League structure. We have a number of junior sides from under 11s up to under 15s.

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,England mourns for her dead across the sea.Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,Fallen in the cause of the free.Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,There is music in the midst of desolationAnd a glory that shines upon our tears. They went with songs to the battle, they were young,Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted; They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morningWe will remember them. They mingle not with their laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;They sleep beyond England's foam. But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,To the innermost heart of their own land they are knownAs the stars are known to the Night; As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain; As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain.@keaveneygroup @dwgmortgages @oysterliveincarecompany @kentcricketfoundation @royalbritishlegion @armywomenscricket @british_army_cricket @britisharmysport @royalairforcecricket @royalairforceuk @royalnavy @rncawomen @royalmarinescricket #whitstable #cricket #family #community ...
